Trip cost calculator

Estimate a car trip by adding fuel, tolls, parking and other expenses. Choose kilometres or miles, one way or return, and divide the total among the people paying. Consumption conversion distinguishes litres per 100 km, kilometres per litre and miles per US or Imperial gallon. Currency is selected separately.

Illustrative inputs, not current market prices. Prices are manual. Language does not select a tariff or tax regime.

Your inputs

Changing physical units converts the corresponding values. Changing currency does not.

How this calculation works

Fuel volume equals total distance multiplied by litres per 100 km, divided by 100. The equivalent price per litre is then applied. A 300 km trip at 6 L/100 km and 1.60 per litre uses 18 litres and costs 28.80 in fuel. Other expenses are added once for the complete journey.

What is included and excluded

Distance is not retrieved from a map and current fuel prices are not fetched. Use your car’s observed consumption when available. Return mode doubles distance but not extra expenses: enter tolls and parking for the whole journey. Wear, insurance, depreciation and meals are not added automatically.

Practical checks before deciding

Save the planned route as comparison A and try another distance and toll amount. A toll-free route may use more fuel if it lengthens the journey. For sharing, count only the people actually paying, including the driver where appropriate. To compare owning different cars, use the vehicle cost comparison: this result covers a trip, not a whole year.
